Meet Our Squad Leaders

Squad Leader Todd Johnson currently lives in western Maryland at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy and is an avid outdoors person. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, and of course looking for the elusive Bigfoot. Todd is interested in anything cryptid and paranormal and has had a few paranormal experiences in his life. Todd would love to prove the existence of Bigfoot in Maryland and show that it is just as squatchy as the surrounding states of WV, PA, and OH. When he is not researching Bigfoot, Todd spends time with his family and friends, and occasionally works from time to time. Todd credits STM for helping him learn more about the history of Bigfoot in different areas of the country.

Squad Leader Jesse “JR” Birch
I’m 62 years old and I had my experience in 1978 in a small town in Florida called LeBell near Lake Okeechobee. It was the last night of summer vacation I spent with my two nephews who lived in a small trailer park there. Suddenly at around 10:00 pm at night we were all in the house when suddenly we heard something crash onto the roof of the mobile home and began walking the entire length of the home actually leaving indented places where it appeared as though it was walking on two feet. After walking the length of the mobile home what ever “it “ was jumped down off the opposite end with a thud and left quickly. All of us in the home were shaken up but slowly went outside to see what made the noise on the roof but due to the ground being completely covered in pine needles and debris there were no tracks but we smelled the odor of skunk and old swamp mud due to there being marsh areas behind the trailer park. We all kind of came to the same conclusion that it was possible to have been the,” Skunk Ape” of Florida which had been spotted in the area.
I’ve never forgotten that experience my whole life!
I currently am living in North Carolina and have heard stories of sightings not far from our home here.
